17 years ago a good friend gave my husband, then boyfriend, a clipping from her Monstera plant. At this time I had never successfully kept a houseplant.

She explained that we could store this clipping in a cup of water until it was ready to put into soil. We listened carefully and watched in awe as this plant not only survived but thrived!

It was our first introduction into the satisfaction of tending to a growing thing. We now have plants all over our home. I’m happy to say that the Monstera we propagated all those years ago is still alive and in fact HUGE! We have moved 4 times since then and it has found the perfect perch in each home.

We call it “favorite”.
