Celestial Dancers Drusy Earrings

Celestial Dancers Drusy Earrings

This past year I took a trip to Tucson, Arizona on a mission to find gems I would fall head over heels for. By day three I swore I was done shopping. I’d reached my limit and blown my budget. That was, until I walked into the Pueblo show building and approached a table that held the finest drusy I had ever seen. Time felt like it stopped as I lost myself and fell deeply in love with that magical tray of dazzling crystals.

I spent what felt like both an eternity and five minutes pouring through the options, finally grouping my selections and pulling out my wallet one more time. I saved these drusies until it got closer to fall. I envision them as the perfect nuggets to bridge the months of bright sun and the first snowfall. Here we are—I’m so excited to share this collection with you now.

You should know how rare and valuable this natural color is. About 90% of geodes from Rio Grande do Sul are solid; only 10% are hollow. Of that 10%, 9% are smooth agate or contain large unusable crystals. Only 1% have drusy suitable for jewelry—and 99.5% of that 1% is grey. Finding these exotic, intensely colored drusy is almost impossible: roughly one colored geode appears per 10 tons of rough, and most of those colors are very light.

These Celestial Dancers measure 2.25" in length and weigh 5 grams per earring. With so much movement, they truly dance and dazzle on the ear.
